The transformation of Dinesen Gallery within the Dinesen Showroom Copenhagen appears effortless. Yet beneath the composure lies a carefully orchestrated system of acoustics, light, plank floors, and wood-clad walls and ceilings, designed to change how the space is experienced from moment to moment.

Office Kim Lenschow approached the transformation of Dinesen Gallery as a flexible framework for exploration. The ambition was not simply to display products but to create spatial conditions that allow architecture, craftsmanship, and atmosphere to coexist.

To achieve this, large sliding wood-clad walls were introduced to loosely divide the gallery in accordance with the existing floor plan. The intervention enables the space to shift seamlessly between exhibition, conversation, and daily showroom functions, creating a rhythm of openness and enclosure throughout the interior.
Central to the transformation are the new wall-and-ceiling cladding solutions. Rather than concealing the technical demands of acoustics and lighting, the design embraces them as architectural elements. Minimal material interventions integrate lighting tracks, acoustic panels, and spatial divisions into a coherent whole.

The exclusiveness of the products and the material quality are emphasised through effective application. The entryway is designed to envelop visitors in floor-to-ceiling Oak cladding, creating a sense of spatial compression and intensity – offering a moment of awe before they enter the open, flexible showroom space.
As the space unfolds, it draws you in, sharpens perception and invites closer attention to the grain, the joinery, and the wood itself. The effect is subtle yet effective. The result is a sequence of rooms that feel softer and more tactile, where wood is experienced not only visually, but physically.

Wood, naturally, becomes both medium and message. Dinesen Gallery reflects the company’s ongoing dialogue between heritage and contemporary design culture. Here, wood is both a decorative surface, a product, and a material that shapes sound, light, and movement alike.

Alongside the architecture, Dinesen Gallery hosts works by Danish artist Malte Frej Linnebjerg, mainly in wood, with visible traces of hand and tool, including drawings, sculptures, basketry, and functional objects. His presence emphasises Dinesen’s support for artists working with wood as a living cultural material.
