The Saint Antoine flat is a 100m2 duplex born from the rehabilitation of a former carpentry workshop and an attic used as storage. In order to fuse the floors together and create a natural flow of the home, a large construction work was necessary. The result is a stairwell that effortlessly connects the two levels and most beautifully adds geometric lines to the flat’s ground floor.

On the lower level, the open living space is sequenced by singular architectural gestures. A light-coloured cupboard allows, at first, delimits an entrance that is both discreet and functional. To optimise the long space of the ground floor, the sculptural metal stairs are suspended above the kitchen. The countertop extends towards the living room and becomes, in an ingenious and daring way, a rest landing. The shape of the staircase has been decanted down to the essential, highlighting the void, like a simple cut-out sheet of paper. Its straight, graphic lines give both an expressive simplicity and a strong aesthetic.
Upstairs, the soaped Dinesen Pine floor transforms the two bedrooms into soothing cocoons. The monumental light wood cupboard in the master bedroom emphasises the particular geometry while disappearing beneath the main beams – old vestiges of the place. The bathroom, meanwhile, has been entirely covered with beige waxed concrete, giving it a timeless softness.
Lastly, the guest bedroom is enveloped by a thin plank of wood that unfolds all around the room, emphasizing the desk, turning into a headboard and even acting as a screen to place the second bathroom in the background.
