The minimalist aesthetic of the Obumex showroom in Tel Aviv is also the defining signature expression of the architect behind the interior design, John Pawson. Step inside this showroom, whose interior is a celebration of stringency and simplicity, matching the products on display. The main feature of the presentation is a redesign of the iconic John Pawson kitchen that was originally created for Obumex more than two decades ago.

The modest interior of the showroom has a simple expression intended to imitate a home rather than a retail concept. Instead of presenting several different kitchen designs, as in a conventional showroom, this space is focused on a single kitchen: the redesigned John Pawson kitchen.
Like the kitchen itself, the interior was conceived and created by John Pawson, who transferred form, proportions and materiality from his kitchen design to this spatial design. Exquisite materials, such as wood and limestone, are combined with light, natural colour shades with the effect of creating a coherent feel and a pervasive visual gentleness.
The interior is designed as a combined kitchen, living and dining room space that evokes an illusion of family life. The beautiful dining room is designed as an alcove lined with Dinesen Ash on the floor, walls and ceiling. Even the built-in bookcases blend into the wall, constructed as they are of beautiful ash with a light-coloured oil finish.
The specially designed bench and square coffee table in the living room are also made of Dinesen Ash.
"Ash has always felt like a natural component of my architectural palette, so I was very happy when Dinesen introduced it. For the showroom in Tel Aviv I wanted to use a light-toned timber, that would read quietly alongside the off-white walls and cabinets and the limestone floor. The bench and coffee table are fabricated from the same wood. The cumulative effect is a composition that has sensory richness, but is ultimately also very simple."
