A world of art and quality Sven-Harrys (konstmuseum) in Stockholm is no ordinary art museum. In addition to a museum and an art gallery with varying exhibitions, the building also includes a number of flats.

The architectural firm Wingårdh designed the building for Sven-Harry Karlsson, who has created quality homes in Sweden for many years. He also has a profound passion for art. With Sven-Harry’s (Art museum) he wanted to create a home for both people and art. In this way, the building with the distinctive façade is always full of life and light.
The architects Gert Wingårdh and Anna Höglund describe the resulting building as a treasure chest that hides its valuable content behind strong panels of aluminium bronze. This material is known from display cases and marine applications, but it is a rare material in architecture.
Inside, the art galleries feature Dinesen Douglas floors. The solid plank floor creates a calm and neutral base for the art works and also brings a warm expression to all the rooms and staircases in contrast to the other materials in the building, including glass and Öland stone. Sven-Harry has always favoured the use of wood in his building projects. Wood makes people happy, he says. Wood creates harmony and joy, but only if the quality is good, as he points out.
