In the Rumanian capital, Bucharest lies this fascinating house designed for a young family of four. The house is 386 m2 and built in four levels.
Private residence, Rumania
Architect: Outline Architecture Office
___________
Douglas, Classic
Thickness: 28 mm. Width: 250 mm.
Finish: Lye and White Oil
The style of the house is simple and sparse, and to pull everything together and achieve a cohesive expression, the architects chose to use Dinesen Douglas planks with a lye and white oil finish for both floors, stair treads and wall cladding.
The living spaces of the house are organized around a central void that extends to the top of the structure, where a large skylight window lets the light in. At the base of the void, in the centre of the house a tree is planted to bring nature inside and grow with the house and its inhabitants.
The floors of the house are located slightly offset and connected by two central stairs. Sliding doors and folding partitions cladded with Dinesen Douglas provide the family with the opportunity to switch between large open spaces and smaller private zones as required.
