Villa CC

Cecilie and Christopher have created a family home that balances history and modernity. The original villa, located north of Copenhagen, carried a soul and a life worth preserving, yet it required a new, contemporary framework. Douglas floors were introduced to emphasise tactility and contribute to a sense of honesty. For this family of four, the result is a home that withstands everyday life while reflecting their personality.

When the Danish couple Cecilie, a model and influencer, and Christopher, a musician, took over their house, they had a clear vision: to preserve its soul while creating a timeless and light-filled space. They were drawn to the home’s energy, and the renovation was guided by a respect for its original features – such as the high panels and grand hall – while reinterpreting them in a more contemporary style so that the house now reflects both its history and the family’s life.

Douglas anchors the rooms. The long, wide planks create a soothing rhythm and a generous sense of space while adding warmth and natural character. Finished with lye and white soap, the wood’s light tone is enhanced, and a Nordic touch and architectural calm underpin the house's atmosphere.

“We wanted a bright, calm and welcoming home – a place where history meets the present and the materials can age beautifully with us. Douglas gives us both the warmth and the generosity we were looking for. It feels personal, timeless and alive all at once.”

Douglas also plays an essential role in the home’s everyday life. For Cecilie and Christopher, the floors are not just a beautiful backdrop, but a living part of the house – a material that can endure daily use and only grows more beautiful with time.

The planks take on a particular presence in the large kitchen-living space, where three rooms have been combined. Here, one senses how the floor resonates with the rhythm of the architecture: the lines continue seamlessly through the rooms, creating an almost sculptural experience.

“The aim was to create a cohesive whole where the materials complement the house’s architecture. The Douglas floors accentuate the villa’s original details while adding a contemporary aesthetic. Their proportions and light hue act as a design feature that unifies the rooms and guides the eye throughout the interior.”

With the renovation, the couple have created a home that balances classical qualities with modern simplicity – a place where natural materials, light and detail together form the framework for a personal and enduring home.
