The client had great respect for Japanese culture and its aesthetics and wished to incorporate such elements into the design of this residence. The lattice sliding doors in the living and dining rooms were the key to this space.

While covering the appearance of the existing aluminium window frames, the sliding doors allowed a moderate amount of light in while keeping a distance from the disturbance of the outdoor urban environment. Instead of installing curtains or blinds, the lattice sliding doors served as one of the elements to create the atmosphere the client wanted.

“In addition to the lattice and wall plastering, we felt that oak wood would match with the Japanese Aji stone material used for the entrance floor. By applying Dinesen Oak wooden floors, shelves and dining table, we were able to create a well-balanced space with modern simplicity, yet with an atmosphere that reminds us of Japan.”
