Material Think Space x Dinesen and Bank of Materials

A tactile art piece has emerged in the collaboration between Material Think Space, Dinesen and Bank of Materials. With offcuts of Dinesen Douglas fir provided by Bank of Materials, Material Think Space has developed a sculptural artefact for an interim exhibition at Dinesen’s Showrooms in Aarhus and Copenhagen.

The sculpture is titled ‘Day Bed’ and embodies an investigation into the subtle architectures of the human body in dialogue with other materials. The piece is made entirely out of offcut wood material from the Dinesen production. Finger joints are used on the end grains in order to merge the disjointed patterns together more harmoniously, as well as to provide extra stability in the piece.

‘Day Bed’ has been finished in a linseed pigment called Paris Blue provided by Linolie & Pigment in a pairing that brings to life the reverberating grain of the Douglas fir.
